The staff was courteous, the welcome was nice, pets were welcome, breakfast was hearty, free parking right in front of the hotel, central location, modern rooms, wellness, cocktail bar. The lift was broken, which wasn’t a big deal if we had a room on the 1st floor. We were asked in advance which dog we were bringing: we said a large, old, and mobility‑impaired dog. We ended up in the 3rd floor, which meant many stairs – a real challenge for us and our dog. We normally book only hotels with lifts, so we expected a lower floor when the lift was down. Also misleading at booking: the listing shows “Steiger Hotel in Bad Schandau” but we actually booked in Sebnitz, only clear after booking. The so‑called Junior Suite in African style wasn’t regionally harmonious, and the suite on the top floor wasn’t air‑conditioned in a 4‑star hotel, which also surprised us. The mattress was dusty and dirty when lifted and under the bed – very disappointing. The TV wasn’t set to normal channels; many strange channels were “programmed,” and the wall‑mounted TV couldn’t be turned toward the bed – you could only watch it from the sofa. The bathroom had only minimal supplies; other hotels in the category have more items. I forgot my toiletries in the bathroom at checkout, the hotel was very accommodating and sent them afterward – thank you again! What struck us negatively was that the wellness area closes at 20:30 on weekends. That’s a real no‑go. At least until 21:30 would be preferable. Breakfast is great, lots of choices, plenty of fruit and veg, constantly restocked, tasty coffee, very generous breakfast hours. The only wish: before offering a very “cheap” juice that tastes only of flavor, sugar, and water, please just skip it. I ran a gastro business myself and focused on better quality over quantity, which I think is never wrong.
