The rooftop restaurant let you preorder fish for dinner; the rooms were spacious.

The stay was exactly what we wanted: a kitchen you could use (there’s a small fee), a roomy room, and it’s very quiet; it’s a bit out of the center, but a bike or tuk‑tuk gets you there quickly, and the beds are quite hard and creaky.

We stayed for 11 days and were satisfied. 1. There were only 5 rooms on the second floor with a shared lounge combined with a kitchen—there’s a iron, a steamer, sofas, a huge dining table, a TV, and a kitchen with utensils (no basic electric kettle or a kettle for the gas stove). 2. Cleaning was on request and surprisingly very good. 3. Breakfast on the roof, squirrels run around, and on neighboring roofs and trees a family of monkeys (not the gangster macaques, but some shy ones) moves around—breakfast is good, tea and coffee (instant, though), fruit bowls, sausages, some egg dishes (omelets, boiled, local recipes), buns, jam, butter for toast. 4. The staff are very friendly and try to meet any whim or request. 5. The main question is distance— we took a scooter to the nearest beaches, but in the evenings we always walked to the tourist street with food stalls by the shore— the road from the hotel to the coast takes about 15 minutes on a leisurely walk, quite comfortable (at night the road is lit by fireflies). The first day was a bit tense because there were many dogs, but these goons act like everywhere in Sri Lanka— they bark when sleepy or run around wagging tails (boring for them). The hotel fully met expectations, especially for the price. not so much negatives but features: 1. Hot water is not electric but a tank on the roof, so sometimes it’s very hot, sometimes warm, and the pressure isn’t stable—but overall it didn’t bother us. 2. Wi‑Fi is weak, available on the whole property but the speed isn’t high—overall it didn’t bother us.
