The building is old, but the location is great, and it's amazing to find a place like this in Kyoto at this price.

The location was really good, but I had some issues with the room. It was supposed to be for 6 people, but there were only 2 of us, and it felt a bit cramped. I was expecting a bigger room. Plus, there was a cigarette smell in the hotel corridors, which I didn't enjoy.

I spent a night at the spot they list as “観光旅館ホテル近江屋” or “Hotel Near Omi.” The tatami‑floored Japanese‑style room felt genuinely traditional and was surprisingly spacious for a single, letting me maneuver my 29‑inch suitcase without trouble; the remote‑controlled lighting was a pleasant touch. Unfortunately, the hot water was a real disappointment—taking forever to warm up and delivering very weak pressure, making a decent shower hard to achieve.

The hotel had a great big bath, which was a nice perk. However, my son was really scared of the room and ended up crying nonstop - it was a bit of a challenge.

This hotel's location is really convenient. It's a no-frills, old-school place that's fine if you're just looking for a place to crash for a bit. I didn't have high hopes and it met my expectations, so I don't have any major complaints.
