I could never actually stay at the place; the listing was misleading, I couldn’t reach the host, the payment was nonrefundable, and I was charged $150.

The room was large, comfortable, and well equipped.

The bed was very comfortable, but it would have been nice if the owners had greeted us while they were home, and we missed the coffee.

Everything was awful—I have to contact the state business license board. Trash piles taller than the buildings, 20‑plus‑year‑old fabric décor that looks second‑hand, no food at all, dangerously exposed outlets, a gravel road with no lighting or signage, and a live bat in the room that we couldn’t remove. The owner was unreachable.

The area is pretty nice, but the place was filthy—cobwebs everywhere, trash bins overflowing with empty bottles, a yard littered with garbage bags, and the bed’s quilt smelled like cat urine, so I couldn’t sleep because of the odor. It was terrible.
