The plan didn’t include meals, so I paid in advance and headed there. I’m glad I checked ahead. The facility is old, with peeling wallpaper and worn tatami, among other issues.

The hot springs were absolutely amazing, the drinking water had a sakura‑like scent and a salty taste that seemed good for the body. The facilities felt a bit old, but the Japanese‑style room with a bed let me hear the river’s murmur and relax.

The dinner let us enjoy both suki‑yaki and shabu‑shabu made from Yonezawa beef, and the hot‑spring water was simply outstanding 👍, though the building showed its age and some details felt neglected.

The staff treated us with great courtesy, but when I opened the safe there was an odd smell – probably because it had been sealed – and I think better ventilation or deodorising would help.

I appreciated that they accommodated my late‑night check‑in, yet the room lacked any sense of cleanliness; the bedding and tatami felt damp from the continuous rain, there were a few spider webs, and the bathroom also needed a cleaner feel.
