Schloss Hotel Wallhausen is situated in a castle 500 metres from Wallhausen (Helme) Train Station, offering free Wi-Fi and public parking. It was a lovely evening with really good food and a beautiful atmosphere. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The breakfast room is also special, with a vaulted ceiling that feels very old‑world. Overall, a very successful stay.

The castle is somewhat hidden but excellent, and its position in the town center is very nice. The hotel entrance is in the remote part of the castle but is well signposted. The room was great, tastefully furnished with partly old furniture, and the bathroom was OK. We had a view of the quiet street in front of the castle – that was fine. We should have pre‑ordered dinner at check‑in, a bit odd, but it allowed the chef to prepare the dishes. Result: rarely have we eaten such a good steak! All in all, a successful short holiday. It is unfortunate that on 30.07.2026 a major fire severely damaged the castle. We wish the family strength and courage to cope with this tragedy.

This place is a hidden gem, a bit off the beaten path, beautifully set and completely quiet; the rooms were very clean, the décor a bit older but acceptable, and the whole castle impressed us as we enjoyed the grounds, the art exhibition on the first floor, and the very friendly staff. Breakfast was decent – since we were the only guests it wasn’t a buffet but a cheese‑and‑meat plate, yogurt, egg, rolls and fruit served at the table – and we spent the evening in the courtyard, with nothing at all to complain about.

The room was decent and the building itself interesting, with a nice bathroom, but the bed and mattress felt odd and very basic. When I left the window open, the highway noise woke me up early in the morning. Breakfast was delivered to the table without any enthusiasm, offering a tiny selection – no ham, no salads, no minced meat, no salami, no yogurt, no fruit, just five thin slices of cold cuts, a bit of cheese with paprika strips and cucumber slices. For the price I paid that was surprisingly poor and disappointing, so there’s definitely room for improvement.

I was impressed by the historic vibe, the art, and the quiet location. The reception was friendly and the restaurant served good food.
