The hotel sits near the bay and is a short walk to Portarlington main drag, yet the games room, gym, and sauna were closed, a neighboring building was partially destroyed, the sheets were nylon, hot, and sticky, ants appeared on used tea mugs, the kitchen hob wouldn’t light so we had to buy a lighter, there was no Wi‑Fi, only terrestrial TV, an old VHS/DVD player was not plugged into the TV or power, and there were no VHS tapes or DVDs to play.

The place is close to town, but you have to walk through the bedroom to reach the toilet and shower, and there’s no door for privacy—just a curtain.

We stayed in a one room cabin for an overnight stay, it was very close walk to the beach and quick drive to the shops. The cabin was very clean and comfortable, the staff were so helpful and lovely
