The bedroom was lovely with a superb shower, and the staff were straightforward yet pleasant. Access to the bedroom was less than ideal because of a steep metal fire escape that looked more like stairs.

Our room was nice, spacious, clean, and had a lovely en suite; we enjoyed it and its amenities. The pub food was just okay—both the sea bass entrée and the mushrooms, plus other items on the brewer’s breakfast, were overly salted. Asher was kind and friendly, but the rest of the service, especially at dinner, was slow, inattentive, and clueless about the food and its preparation, so we would have been happier eating elsewhere.

The continental breakfast was good, but the coffee was weak. The cooked breakfast had been kept warm, yet it arrived 15 minutes late even though we were on time.

The staff were excellent, and the beer garden hosted a fantastic beer festival that added a great bonus to the stay.

All the staff were great, the atmosphere was solid, the food was good, and the location worked well. I especially liked the beer flights—trying all six types on site, one‑third pint each! What more could you ask for? The only downside was that the room felt a little tired, but that was part of its charm. Parking nearby could be tricky, but we found a slot 100 yards away and a large car park close by.
