I’ve stayed here several times now. It’s a classic old‑school hotel from the past, with staff who try to please, though English isn’t their first language, which can be a bit annoying. The hotel radiates class and the location is perfect. I enjoy my stays here and will almost certainly return when I’m in London again. Some communication hiccups, but minor.

The location is very good, but I find it audacious that a tip is automatically added to the bill without asking the guest. There was no coffee machine in the room. The water softener is set too high, so the soap doesn’t rinse off the skin.

The location, decor, food and staff were all excellent. I would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

The house and all shared facilities were great. I made the mistake of booking a room with a queensize bed (the cheapest category). It turned out to be on a fairly busy street and very dark. That room was also quite expensive. Still, you shouldn’t skimp here and should book a room facing forward. The noise level in the room and low light were negatives. The included breakfast was excellent, but it only contained a hot drink.

The service was consistently the best I have ever experienced at a hotel, even though I’ve travelled worldwide. We also received a free upgrade.
