“Céntrico y con las tres B”
The location is central. I was disappointed that there were no towels and the shower water wouldn’t turn on, but it didn’t really bother me.

The small garden with the beach, private dock, and the fact that there weren’t many rooms made the place feel very intimate. However, there were zero amenities: no fridge, no water when we arrived.

It’s a simple place, nothing like the big hotels that offer food, amenities, and other services, but that’s what we were after: peace and rest, so we had a great time. The staff (Lupe, Hanna, and the two cleaning ladies) were friendly and handled our requests. There’s direct access to the lagoon and a small pier, though that area isn’t sandy like the center resorts—it’s more muddy but not unpleasant. Overall, the stay was very satisfying and we’d definitely return to Casita Maya if we go back to Bacalar. The hotel could use better upkeep; it feels a bit abandoned. The roofs of the pavilions (on the 3rd floor and at the pier) are in bad shape and leak when it rains. Our suite deluxe didn’t have hot water in the shower, though the sink did. Wi‑Fi was spotty and didn’t reach the pier where we spent most of our time. You’ll need a car because there’s nothing nearby for coffee.

Only the lagoon view mattered. We paid for two rooms with lagoon views, but got one with a backyard view instead. The rooms smelled bad, the bathroom was dirty, and honestly I don’t recommend staying here—you’ll regret it like my family did.

The lagoon view was exactly what we expected. The bathroom wasn’t very clean; there were hairs in the shower and sink.
