The historic home was stunning, and once inside it was a real treat: every wall and even the ceilings were covered in art—kitschy, eccentric, eclectic, and impressively wide-ranging, all while staying impeccably clean with no dust. We enjoyed hearty, delicious Cajun breakfasts each morning in the formal yet comfortable dining room, so we didn’t need another meal until late afternoon or early evening. There’s plenty to see and do in this part of Cajun country, and we were only a short drive from all our day excursions. Returning to the house felt very welcoming, and we slept soundly in our beds. I only wish there was a working refrigerator in our room; otherwise, I have no complaints.
