“Despite bucketing rain it was very pleasant and memorable”

The inn felt warm and welcoming right from the start. We enjoyed the lounge, study, and seating area where guests could freely make tea and coffee, with crockery and cutlery displayed flawlessly. The second building offers five private baths and a large open‑air double bath for both genders, plus another comfortable seating/resting spot. At night, lantern lights illuminate the area, creating a lovely ambience. We absolutely loved this place! Nothing to complain about.

The traditional Ryokan had a stunningly cozy vibe with brand‑new rooms. The rotemburo and private onsens are breathtaking, set amid a small mossy garden with green trees. The staff were outstanding, pampering guests, and offering restaurant recommendations and bookings in town (highly advised, since local options are few and usually small, so book ahead). A minor downside: some rooms only have a toilet, no shower, but with the many private baths—one in the building and five across the street—this isn’t a big issue. It’s still one of my favorite places to stay in Japan.

The rooms beautifully blend classic design with modern amenities, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They also provide a great selection of onsens; it was my first time at an onsen, so I really appreciated the variety of private options available.
