Ahmed and his son made the stay feel like home and it was a breeze. The place is a stone’s throw from the ferry and a short bike ride to the Valley of the Kings. Chatting with Ahmed was a highlight of my trip to Egypt, and the property itself is a perfect spot to unwind after long days in the sun.

“Endroit calme et paisible mais hôte odieux.”

The inn’s remote location keeps noise away, which is a plus. Initially, the host seemed welcoming and helpful, but the rating on Booking doesn’t reflect the reality and you’ll be disappointed by the misleading score. Check Google reviews and you’ll see I’m not the only one who experienced Ahmed’s mood swings. Once we stopped using his services, he became unpleasant and aggressive, while his son was still sweet but clearly affected by his father’s behavior. Prices are higher than nearby options, cleanliness is lacking, we never saw anyone cleaning, and the bedding quality is very poor.

“Super vacances à Al Salam Camp”

We spent great nights at AlSalam camp – the place is cute, rooms clean, and the location is perfect for escaping the bustle of Luxor while staying only 10 minutes on foot plus the public ferry away. The street is full of restaurants with very friendly locals. Ahmed, the manager, is fantastic and has fascinating conversations; we talked for hours and he can point you to the best plans for activities around Luxor.
