“High quality accommodation, tranquil surroundings and warm reception from staff”
The place is tucked behind Raithby, yet surprisingly central—just 35 minutes from Cape Town, 30 to Elgin, 10 to Stellenbosch. It’s surrounded by lesser‑known vineyards, including Lyngrove’s extensive, multi‑award‑winning range, and is close to Ken Forrester, Post House and Klein Welmoed; make sure to try Lyngrove’s tasting too. A full‑scale billiards table and a well‑stocked honesty bar let you forget the bad shots, while the elegant main lounge is perfect for relaxing. The pool, though unused, looked great and would be a nice spot for a quiet summer afternoon. Tennis courts and easy walks around the 80‑hectare estate add to the activity options. Breakfasts were well presented, with many choices, and the fruit bowls vanished quickly. Michel and the team made the stay enjoyable, and we’ll almost certainly return. The only downside was the pork sausages—if you’re not into spicy food, keep an eye out, as I got a little surprise on my first bite.
