“A good place for a short, one-night stay.”
The location was great and getting from the underground parking to the hotel was easy. The apartment was comfortable and had all the necessary amenities. You need cash to pay for parking, as the parking machine does not accept card payments. One night cost 12 Euro.
Good location near the train station and pedestrian zone.
“Bad and shady business practices.”
On the day I arrived, the Mercure Hotel forced me to rebook at the Wyndham Duisburger Hof, which sits across the street, and I was also downgraded to a lower‑tier room with no chance to decline the offer.
I was looking for a place close to the airport with easy check‑in, and this hotel delivered exactly that—staff called me politely with clear instructions that made me feel safe. Nothing else to add.
“Toplocatie, maar door de slechte airconditioning, krakende bedden en oncomfortabele kussens helaas een slapeloze en tele”
The location was excellent, the hotel is very central so everything is easily reachable; the air conditioning didn’t work at all and felt more like a ventilation or climate system that barely cooled. The bedroom was therefore very hot and stuffy, even though the “AC” was on, so we could barely sleep. We went to reception about it, but they couldn’t do much for us. Also the beds had deteriorated and creaked a lot. The pillows were completely uncomfortable and offered almost no support; I had to fold my pillow several times to find a somewhat good position. Because of the heat and the bad pillows I barely slept all night.
