I loved this hostel – there was plenty of room for my luggage, the bathroom was clean, and the sheets were fresh. The staff were friendly, especially Houssem at the reception who helped me with the locker and my baggage and was patient and kind to everyone. The place is close to the Metro, so it takes 15‑20 minutes to reach the Duomo.

The only friendly person was the man at the desk. The place felt very oppressive, with nowhere to relax, no tea towel to dry hands after washing pots, and only one toilet in the same room as the shower. There were no clear rules about shower length – a 20‑minute shower is not allowed in a hostel. The kitchen cupboards were messy, and after wiping the table it was left damp and sticky. The kitchen was cramped, offering only two enormous bowls. The front door was always unlocked. It was more expensive than other hostels we’ve stayed in but probably ranks in the bottom three for value and enjoyment.

The staff were cultural, and even though check‑in was until 00:00, they waited 10 minutes longer because the bus arrived late.

The location is perfect, very close to the metro, which is the main advantage of this stay. The bedding is clean. Receptionists Ahmed and another young man I don’t remember the name of are friendly and attentive, trying to solve problems. There is enough hot water for everyone. The price is the cheapest in the area. The rest of the hostel’s cleanliness is poor. The common bathroom smells bad, lacks proper ventilation because the window you can open might let people see you bathing from the other side of the street, and the shower enclosure is broken and cannot be closed, turning the bathroom into a pool. They even leave a bucket with a poor mop that doesn’t absorb water in the WC, making you try to dry yourself without getting wet when changing clothes. The room WC also has a broken enclosure that can’t be closed and drips everywhere, with another bucket and mop in the same condition. The kitchen is tiny, the beds lack curtains for privacy, which would be great for mixed rooms where men and women share the same space. I don’t recommend going with a partner, and it’s best to go alone if you’re a man just to have a place to rest your head at night. It needs a renovation. There’s intense heat because they try not to use air conditioning.
