Really clean and beautifully presented. The staff were lovely.
“Lovely place for a short stay. Surrounded by good walks.”
The location is tranquil, but the dinner options could be better.
“Norfolk mill getaway.”
The mill pond, garden, and overall location were all fantastic, and the restaurant served excellent meals while the staff were friendly and helpful, making it a lovely break. The only downside for me was that the pillows felt too soft.
“Beautiful location, perfect for warm summer nights, we will go back!”
The Mill sits in a gorgeous spot at the end of a tiny lane that stops at the Mill itself. It’s surrounded by water—the Wensom River, which flows into Norwich—and lush grounds. There are plenty of spots to sit around the grounds and by the water, perfect for summer evenings, and when we were there, there was also an outdoor bar. From our room we could see the river on one side and a field of cows on the other. The outside space couldn’t have been more lovely. Inside it has low, beamed ceilings and well‑thought‑out interior design, with some bold colour choices that surprisingly work! Our room was cosy, with a lovely walk‑in shower. The Mill was generous with its offerings, including free bottled water each day in the room and proper bottles in the bathroom. We ate in the restaurant on our first night because it wasn’t warm enough outside. It was busy and buzzing with large tables, so the main course took a while to arrive. The food was nice and not just average pub fare—someone in the kitchen is creative and experimenting, which we appreciated. The dining room upstairs has a low ceiling, so it feels more cosy for a winter meal than a summer one, but the atmosphere was good and the staff were helpful and friendly.
“I will probably stay again next year, but est out.”
I was struck by how unique and pretty the place was, and the sheets and towels were spotlessly clean. The food, while tasty, was outrageously pricey—pudding cost £12.99 for a tiny portion, and the main courses were similarly steep. I’ll probably return, but I’ll skip the main meals next time and eat elsewhere.
