The location is good and a short bike ride to the town centre, but everything else was terrible: the mattresses were awful, my back has been in pain since Saturday morning because of them, they’re completely worn out and you can feel and hear every single spring; the hotel shows no respect for guests, you’d get a more comfortable bed in prison. I’d recommend the manager try sleeping on that mattress for a night.

The mattress was unusable—springs were broken and dug into our backs, leaving us sore after returning home. The ensuite was filthy, with hairs in the hand basin, and there weren’t enough towels; we only had one for the night and had to buy more. Bedding was minimal, just one light pillow each and a light duvet. The cigarette bin on the wall near the building entrance was overflowing and disgusting. I feel the price was too high for what was offered.

In 30 minutes we reached the city centre, but when we arrived there was no one to greet us. The contact phone listed on the booking site didn’t answer, and we waited an hour. I tried messaging through the website, but got no reply. Luckily we spotted a woman cleaning rooms; she gave us a room and a key to the main door but it wasn’t ours. We were told it would be ready the next day. The next day I had to call repeatedly, and after an hour we finally received a different apartment. The place is basic, except the bathroom is tiny even for one person; otherwise it’s fine. A TV and kettle would have been nice since cafés are 15‑20 minutes away.

Ard Nua Village itself is pretty nice, but the rooms are run by different hosts. StaySligo is one of them, and if you want a room there I’d book elsewhere. The room was dirty and the heating didn’t work, so it was very cold. The bathroom had no toilet paper, contrary to the listing, so I had to buy my own. The bed had a cheap spring mattress that was uncomfortable. StaySligo has no staff on site; all communication was via email and phone, which made things a bit complicated.
