“Great location, lovely gardens, delicious food- top notch Agritourismo experience.”
I stayed at this agritourismo, a working farm that makes olive oil and many of the foods we ate on site. They offered us dinner for an extra fee the night we arrived, and it turned out to be some of the best food I've had in Italy on this trip – absolutely excellent. Breakfast, which was included, featured coffee, milk, fresh yoghurt made on the premises, fresh pastries and jams also produced onsite – all delicious. I enjoyed wandering the beautiful gardens full of flowering lavender; a swallow had built a nest right next to the entrance door and my daughter saw the hungry nestlings poking their heads out. The location is great – right off the A1 autostrada between Rome and Reggio Calabria and in the heart of the Parco Nazionale Del Polino, known for winter cross‑country skiing and miles of cycling trails in summer. The property has a pool, but we didn’t have time to use it. The beds were rock‑hard, making it difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position; this is a common issue with Italian beds, but even my adult children noticed it this time.
