Sabala feels like a home away from home with Malamma as the caretaker of all the customers; she’s a real gem; we wanted to start early in the morning but the ambiance was so magnetic that we left at 10.30.

Mallamma is the heart of this place! The gardens are a peaceful oasis in indian chaos

Sabala has a wonderful garden surrounding the property, a very hospitable, organised owner who helped us organise transport and responded to all our needs ( such as extra blankets). We had some wonderful vegetarian dinners as well as breakfasts. Another added bonus is their textile shop and sewing team on sight. I bought a few items and one needed alterations which were done immediately. The beds were rather hard. Though you sleep peacefully as it’s so quiet on the edge of town surrounded by the garden and fields

Malama, the owner, welcomed us warmly and spoke excellent English, going out of her way to ensure we had a great stay. She also supports local nomadic women, fights for gender equality, and runs a lovely craft shop that lets you get involved. We dined there the first night and the food was delicious—just decide what you want, because Mamala offers everything you could ask for. Our two breakfasts were different but equally tasty. The garden is nice for an evening drink, and Malama can bring you a beer if you want, but keep it quiet! The place is simple and inexpensive, but it sits on a busy road—though we didn’t hear the traffic from our room. The rooms are basic, and the water pressure and flow were so low we couldn’t take a shower, so we ended up washing with a bucket. The first night’s arrival was a bit unsettling when the door was locked, but Malama’s kindness made everything fine, and we recommend this place.

The silence was perfect, yet it was far from anything else.
