It’s a Holiday Inn but very Chinese. It has all the amenities and the breakfast is very varied. It’s well‑located for heading up to the Golden Summit, and there are many restaurants right next door—a luxury at a good price. The breakfast could use a bit more covering of the food.

The only upside was the handy location near the bus stop for visiting Mount Emei. I had booked and paid for a double‑bed room with a garden view but was given a room with single beds overlooking the parking lot, no air‑conditioning in the public areas or even in the breakfast room, and the “mini‑bar” was just two bottles of water on a shelf with no fridge to chill anything. Temperatures were close to 40 °C, making it miserable, and the pool was just a shallow basin of water up to the ankles rather than a real pool. Breakfast was very average.

The best parts were the location and the breakfast; the building is pretty and right next to the entrance to Mount Emei. In a four‑person reservation it seemed only two breakfasts were included, but the front‑desk guy gave us two extra coupons as a courtesy. I find it odd that staff at an international chain hotel can’t even say “hello” in English. Check‑in was late, almost at 12 pm, and after a long train journey we were exhausted; when we reached our room after checking in, they called our phone and asked us to return to reception to pay. That was a bit strange and annoying. The two‑bed rooms are a bit narrow for families with children. The pool area isn’t well maintained and doesn’t invite you to swim at all. The overall temperature in the premises was very high during summer, with barely any cooling in the common areas, although the tolerance for heat in the Chinese town is much higher than in the West. Overall, there’s a lot more that could be done with these facilities.

The continental breakfast was a disappointment.
