“Il Pavone, der tolle Pfau”
I stayed at Il Pavone, the Peacock, a stunning B&B in upper Conca dei Marini, and everything was top‑class, from the windows and blinds to the automatic awning and the rooms themselves, all crafted with meticulous detail. The first‑floor rooms branch off from a hallway that also offers a small kitchen, and each room has a balcony with a gorgeous view of the Amalfi Coast. We parked two cars comfortably in the garage. Breakfast was served on a fantastic terrace on the floor above, where the three hosts – the son, the father, and the mother – were present. The mother cooked the omelette, the father expertly made the cappuccino, all with love for detail. The son acted as our point of contact and interpreter, ensuring our comfort. Upon arrival, we received a thorough briefing and were even taken to a neighboring town. The local tips were spot‑on, and the restaurants in the upper part of the area were recommended. A few more steps lead to the garden, laid out in a terrace‑style southern design, inviting relaxation with one of the best views of the Amalfi Coast, though the weather ruined that plan. The bus stop is a two‑minute walk away, and it’s worth a ride, though we returned from Amalfi. Note: We didn’t swim there in October. Using Conca dei Marini as a base for day trips, mainly by car, was ideal, and choosing B&B Il Pavone was a happy decision. Taxis and boats are available in the lower part of the town, but it takes time to reach the water’s edge. There were no negatives.
