“Very disappointed experience”

The only bright spot was the affordable price for one night, and the staff were okay, but overall it was a very disappointing experience: the room had a severely lumpy mattress, no cold water, dust everywhere, black mould in the vents, and a non‑functioning TV; the staff made little effort to resolve these issues. I also paid extra for a “view,” only to overlook a pie shop. Overall, it was not an acceptable standard.

I stumbled upon a charming small town pub that turned out to be absolutely excellent, with nothing to complain about.

The bed was comfy, the staff were friendly, and the location suited my needs, but the place wasn’t clean; I dropped my phone on the side of the bed, only to find it surrounded by old socks and other detritus, which I deeply regretted retrieving.

“Different meaning to cheap n cheerful”

The location was convenient and parking was great, and the staff were approachable and attentive, yet I was gutted to pay £48 for an overnight stay that felt like a tent; the room was dirty with cobwebs everywhere, the sink water didn’t run properly, old mucus remained in the basin, dirt surrounded the taps, dust covered everything, there was no soap to wash hands, no toiletries, and when I asked I was only given shampoo; Wi‑Fi didn’t work, the TV wasn’t enabled for apps, the restaurant was closed on a Wednesday even though the hotel knew I was checking in at 6 pm and hadn’t eaten, the mattress let me feel the coils, heating was off so it got quite cold, and I had booked two single beds but was given a double—thankfully my daughter was there to share it with! I won’t stay here again; it’s shame that it costs nothing to be clean.
