“We did not stay here! Did not feel safe!”

The pictures and description promised a great stay, but it was far from it. The property sits in a bleak part of town with vagrants around the “townhouse”, a seedy and rundown vibe. Graffiti marred the building’s side and the flower boxes held dead flowers. There was no proper front door—just a metal door with a skeleton lock inside. We arrived early and asked the owner to let us in; he locked the door behind him, claiming the bar wasn’t open yet. The rooms are above the bar, yet there’s no separate lock between the bar and the upstairs rooms, so we didn’t feel safe and decided to cancel, losing the two nights we’d prepaid.

“I CAN'T GET NO SLEEP”

The bedding was comfortable and the room was light and airy, with a great position to Dublin city centre. However, it was extremely noisy—do not stay here if you need sleep! No one answered our request to change rooms. The room wasn’t cleaned for the entire five days we were there, even though that was advertised. Both fans were broken, the bed support was damaged on arrival, and the fridge door was broken. The bistro/bar never opened, the sink had brown hot water, and the room was dusty.

“AWESOME and will recommend to family, friends and clients.”

From the first conversation with Paul, we were impressed—he answered all our questions quickly and was personable, giving great suggestions. I would definitely recommend him and the room. I’d like to try the pub and food next time; it was closed when we arrived, but Paul pointed us to a nearby restaurant within walking distance of the hop‑on‑hop‑off buses, Trinity College, the train, and Guinness. The only downside is the graffiti on the outside buildings, which is unfortunate because the interior is 5‑star. Don’t let the graffiti deter you; you’ll miss out on meeting Paul and staying in a great room.

Paul and his colleague were very helpful arranging our late check‑in and kept responding until we actually got into the room; we appreciated their kindness. The location is convenient, close to transport links, especially if you’re using the Dublin Express coach to or from the airport.
