The owner was very friendly and made an effort. The pool had no water, there was no restaurant and no breakfast buffet. The bathroom was wet and the room was moldy. The lounge area was dirty. The food is not cooked in-house and is mediocre.

The family that runs this guesthouse is incredibly friendly and local. Even though the setup is very basic, it gives a genuine Sri Lankan vibe. The spot is perfect for exploring Sinharaja forest, and the surroundings are spotless and eco‑friendly—no mosquitoes at night. Nothing to complain about.

The hotel is fantastic! The atmosphere is calm and peaceful. We intended to stay one day but ended up staying two because of the great spiritual vibe. The food is delicious, the staff is attentive, and the surrounding nature is wonderful with several mountain rivers. Jungle and waterfall tours with guides are available at reasonable prices. I highly recommend it.

The place is run by very warm and kind people. Its location is ideal for jungle exploration, and the property manager pointed us toward an excellent guide who took us expertly through the jungle.

We spent two nights at Sinharaja Retreat Hotel. Yasindu was an amazing host—friendly and helpful! His father, the chef, made everything we ate delicious, and we even tried a local dish called Karen koku curry that we haven’t found elsewhere, which felt very special. Yasindu arranged a tour with guide Saman, who was fantastic; we saw many animals we would never have spotted on our own, he answered all our questions and never rushed us. It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend staying here. The only downside is that it’s a bit far from Deniyaya; there’s a bus to Lankagama Bridge (a 30‑minute walk to the hotel), but going to Neluwa might be easier.
