Getting to I‑5 was a split second away, and the spot between Lake Shasta and Redding, CA, was unbeatable; the staff were super 😎 cool, and I had a restful night’s sleep—thanks, Jason Laurita from Devcon Construction (408‑908‑0699, jlaurita@devcon‑const.com). The only downside was that the good Chinese restaurant across the street, which had been there for years, was closed.

The place looked nothing like the photos posted online; the reviews I read were clearly wrong. The front desk staff were friendly and switched on the AC before I entered, but the room was scorching hot. A no‑smoking sign in the room was appreciated because I’m a non‑smoker, yet I could still smell marijuana, which was disappointing. The room itself was dirty: towels had stains, the shower needed cleaning, and the sheets were also stained. The furnishings were clearly outdated and the whole room felt like someone had lived there before us. The highway noise was louder than expected, and the refrigerator still had leftover food from the previous guests. Overall, it felt like a rundown place that needs a serious upgrade.
