This was our second stay at the hotel, the bedroom was excellent, and access was easy.

The place was clean, but the advertising was misleading: we arrived at 12 pm to ask about early check‑in or a bag drop and learned we were actually staying in the Donnini Apartments, not The Kylestrome Hotel, with no staff on site. A staff member on the phone told us to download an app for PINs to access the building, and we were then told the room would be ready for an extra £15 per hour, totaling £45 for early check‑in because we’d be using electricity. All we wanted was a place to leave our bags before a wedding, no electricity needed, but they refused to give us a locker. We eventually received a locker and a code, and were told our room number but not the code for it, which would be available after 2 pm. When we returned from the wedding at 11.45 pm, we retrieved our bags from the locker and went to the room only to find the lights were out. We called the out‑of‑hours number, which played a message saying no one was available and to call 999 in an emergency—shocking! We were left fumbling with phone torches at midnight with no staff to help. The bathroom was quite run down and the seal on the shower screen didn’t seal properly. When we left the next morning, we spoke to the cleaners about the lights; they pointed out a “faulty” card reader, again no staff to explain that there was a card reader, it was broken, and the card had fallen to the floor in the dark, probably because the door knob was broken and knocked it off. I would definitely not recommend these apartments; the service is very poor and it’s definitely not worth £193 for a night.

The style and location were fine, but the noise from the function room and the lack of staff to help were problematic.

Nice rooms, great spot, and the smart access worked fine; the downstairs restaurant was excellent, but the room was right above a function suite that had a party, making it very loud.
