“Worst booking experience ever to empty property on arrival”
Absolutely appalling! The property was empty when we got there. We had driven 3.5 hours from home and arrived in Blackpool around 6 p.m., while check‑in was listed as 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The weather was terrible, so I ran to the door while my family stayed in the car outside. I knocked for about 10 minutes in the pouring rain, then called the number on the card but got no answer; I left a voicemail but received no reply. A neighbouring B&B owner soon came out and told me the property had been empty for some time and that we had probably been scammed. They offered to accommodate us, but after learning we were traveling with a pet that was supposedly allowed at the Walcot, they said they didn’t allow pets and suggested someone else. The B&B owner didn’t answer the door either, and I tried several on the same street with no luck. We had to book somewhere else because both drivers were exhausted after the 3.5‑hour drive and driving back home was not an option. I was traveling with my 72‑year‑old mother, my 15‑year‑old son, and a 4‑month‑old puppy, so having nowhere to stay was extremely distressing. It was a Saturday night in Blackpool, making it hard to find available accommodation. We had stayed at the Travelodge there before, so we booked through their website to avoid being scammed again. Our car broke down in the central car park after leaving the Walcot hotel, which made things even worse. We had to take a taxi from the central car park to the South Promenade Travelodge with all our luggage. Luckily Travelodge had a room for us, but it cost 200 pounds, which we hadn’t budgeted for on our trip to Blackpool.
