The Stag Head Hotel

“Needs some work”

The hotel is a bit out of the way, but the location is charming and it didn't take long to get into town. The shower lock needs fixing – it’s a safety issue because I couldn’t lock the door when I needed to and struggled to get out when it was broken. There are several minor things that could be sorted out easily.

The Stag Hotel was clean and although not really close to Edinburgh it was in a lovely location. The hotel really needs to do some maintenance. It is a 30 minute hub to fix the shower door so that it can lock. A small sign saying that the shower is occupied that is up high is not ok. I didn't feel safe in the shower and got locked in there twice. My door has the metal closing thing up the top falling off. Again, it is a couple of minutes just to take that off which would be better than letting it hang. Alternatively, it shouldn't take long to fix or replace. I used this hotel twice because of convenience and because I had booked it before I found out about the issues. If I had of known about the bathroom before, I wouldn't have stayed here

“Felt like home”

The pub gives a perfect village atmosphere and experience; everything else was fine.

“Woeful”

The location and view were good, but everything else was terrible. The property looks run down; the room at the top of a creaking stair was dingy, cramped, and poorly equipped. There’s barely a 12" gap between the left side of the bed and the wall, and the right side is only slightly better if you don’t mind the radiator scalding you. The furniture looks like it was taken from a skip, and it felt like an episode of “Rising Damp” from the 70s. It would have been tolerable if we hadn’t been charged £170 for it.

“Good”

The room offered a great view and was positioned nicely, plus the free parking was a big plus. However, the sink tap was loose and the bedroom door stayed half off its frame and wall.
