I usually avoid luxury hotels, but treating myself to a one‑night stay here proved worthwhile. Valet parking and luggage assistance were offered, and the restaurant staff were especially attentive, going out of their way to accommodate my allergies. The breakfast was so delicious that I ended up eating more than usual. My room was spacious, with a large bed and a bathroom that featured both a shower and a bathtub; I also appreciated the bird paintings on the walls. The view was limited because the windows faced the parking lot, yet a green hedge around the building made the space feel private. Evening room service was available, and I could order breakfast to the room. The pool, whirlpool, sauna, and steam room were all lovely and open to guests even without an overnight stay. The entire estate is beautiful, the buildings are well kept, and free bike rentals are offered alongside other activities like golf and horseback riding. The room rate is steep, but if you use all the facilities and spend a full day there, the value is clear, especially since the restaurant prices are reasonable. I wish I could have stayed longer. I would have liked a more flexible cancellation policy to reduce planning worries. The mattress was a bit too soft for my taste, and some pool features—like the ladder and vents—could use an update, but otherwise I have no further comments.

The estate is gorgeous, and the large room is even better. The hotel itself looks freshly renovated, and the staff were all lovely, especially a charming gentleman who shared the house’s history while we were at the bar.

The meal at Lady Helen in the Manor House saved the property for us—the house itself is fantastic (not the Hunter’s Yard where most residents stay), but the food was life‑changing and the staff in that part of the estate were extremely attentive. The Hunters Yard, where most residents are based, was disappointingly underwhelming and lacked basic upkeep. The pool area was filthy, with mould on the tiles, rusted nails, and handrails that were on the verge of falling off—this nearly caused an accident for us. We raised the issue twice, but it was completely ignored. For the price of the room, we felt cheated; we found a larger room in a 4‑star hotel the night before, complete with a large bathroom and a bath, whereas ours had only a basic shower, a very small bathroom, and a “garden view” that was actually a car park. We spent over €600 (room and breakfast) and would not recommend it. We do, however, recommend the Michelin‑level meal at Lady Helen; it was phenomenal.

The golf course was fantastic, the staff were great, and the welcome was very warm; the castle was dreamy, but the breakfast left something to be desired.
