The bed and bathroom were comfortable, yet the breakfast was quite mediocre with supermarket‑grade pastries and stale bread, and the host didn’t speak French. We paid for two rooms for two nights—one for our son, who was sent back to his home in the Landes to evacuate his apartment threatened by this summer’s fires. The host showed no interest in offering even a small discount; money seemed to be the only thing that mattered. The house faces the highway, and cars and trucks create constant noise.

The welcome was very warm and the breakfast excellent, but the window in the room doesn’t block out enough light.
