The host was friendly and helpful, and the apartment was fairly close to the center, in a busy but safe area. It had air conditioning (we didn’t use it), a mini‑fridge, a working bathroom exhaust, good pillows, a nice entrance, and a spacious room with a lovely view of via Etnea from a small terrace. The bed was uncomfortable, with a sagging mattress that only supported the center; the mattress was larger than the base so it shifted and we couldn’t put sheets or blankets underneath. The building was old, had no elevator, many stairs, and unkempt walls. The apartment was on the second floor, but it felt like a third floor of a modern house, so the climb was tiring. The room door lock was in bad shape, there was no wardrobe but a fabric mobile organizer instead, the antique armchairs were worn and scuffed underneath, and the shower knob needed fixing.
