“Once upon a time it was a favourite.”
The courtyard’s pool, loungers, and HeyDey bar and restaurant are the main draws, and I appreciate the era‑styled rooms and consistently lovely front desk staff. However, things have deteriorated since my last visit: the room wasn’t cleaned, furnishings, fixtures, and walls showed significant wear, and there were stains on the sheets, hair in the shower, crumbs and hair on the floor, plus dried bodily fluids on the wooden headboard—worst of all. The walls are so thin you can hear everything, ruining sleep. On day one we couldn’t use the pool or bar because a wedding had booked the entire courtyard from 3:45 pm to 10:30 pm, and the staff lied about the pool being open. The manager told us to decide “when and if it seemed appropriate to go swimming” while the wedding party surrounded us. We canceled our north shore plans to use the pool, which was the main reason for booking. No iced tea, no orange water, no popcorn—amenities paid for in the fee. Overall, we paid for a dirty room, bad sleep, and poor communication from management. Not great.
