“Good food, lovely staff, very bad night's sleep.”
The staff were friendly and helpful, and both the evening meal and breakfast were good. However, our first‑floor room had paper‑thin walls and floor, letting us hear everything in other rooms; the beds were okay but most pillows were thin and uncomfortable. The TV was almost falling off the wall because two screws were missing, and the kettle’s filter was floating inside. For these reasons we would not stay at The Plough again.
“Great food and service”
The bar and staff were amazing, but the rooms were okay and the beds needed pulling out and cleaning underneath; they were very dusty and a bit tired. We thought the bedrooms were part of the main building, but ours was across the courtyard in a motel‑style layout, perhaps because we had our dog with us.
“Absolutely brilliant value.”
I stayed here while visiting Jodrell Bank, and the room was huge with a big bed—everything was spotless. The dinner was fantastic, classic pub‑style food, and breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Honestly, this is one of the best value hotels I've found in the UK. Nothing was wrong at all!
“Great food and comfortable stay”
Having stayed here on and off for over 20 years, I can say the food is the best ever and the rooms are more comfortable than before. The only negatives are early‑morning noise from above when staying in the lower rooms and noisy water pipes.
“The perfect stop over with an excellent breakfast and some delicious options for dinner”
The facilities were great, the staff excellent, and the attention to detail superb; the best pie I’ve had in months for dinner was the cherry on top!
