The food was incredible, and I liked that it was served in our room instead of a dining hall. I wished there had been more than one private onsen booking per room.

We loved the outdoor onsen and the happy‑hour free drink. Our room was very comfortable and the indoor patio gave it a sense of space. Everyone was very friendly. It’s a pleasant 10‑15 minute walk to the station. The cushions in the room’s dining area were very thin, so it was a bit uncomfortable to sit for long periods.

The location and the amazing onsens were great, and the traditional Japanese style. There was a certain smell in the room, and the room was noisy from the street.

We treated ourselves to this ryokan during a 14‑day trip across Japan; the room, food, staff and private onsen were all excellent. The walk from Hakone‑Yamote station was uphill and a bit long, so I’d probably take the bus next time.

The food was outstanding, and the proximity to the river and the outdoor onsen made the stay even better.
