The bed was super comfy! It’s close to shops and the park, and spotlessly clean. Thanks for the stay.

The place looks good and hits the mark if you’re after a genuine Japanese feel. However, it isn’t suited to westerners’ height; we bumped our heads several times. It was cold, the building creaked, and the thin walls let outside noise seep in. The rooms are small and cramped, and you have to step outside to go from bed to toilet, then outside again to shower.

The inn had a very traditional Japanese look, which was especially cool in Kyoto, but the real highlight was how fully equipped it was—slippers, towels, toothbrush, coffee, and even a large bottle of mineral water. It was definitely the best stay on our Japan trip and comes highly recommended. On a side note, avoid the Kyoto buses—they’re so slow you’re better off walking, or try the trains, which are excellent.

The décor is fantastic and the environment is great. The shower water wasn’t hot enough.
