The room was lovely in a beautiful village, and the breakfast in the castle courtyard was excellent. The girl who looked after us was delightful. We initially had trouble locating the room because there were no numbers on the door to confirm we were in the right place, but after getting help from someone who came over, everything was sorted out.

The location is fantastic and there’s plenty of space. The accommodation is tastefully decorated and clean. A big bonus is the attached restaurant with a very good breakfast. Dinner is almost a must‑see, and even if we’re not staying in Štanjel, we gladly detour to enjoy the great cuisine. The hosts are warm, helpful, and we received many good tips. The only drawback, if any, is that there’s no direct parking in front of the door; the city gate gives a small adrenaline kick if you have a larger vehicle 😅.

I absolutely loved this place—it was clean, stylish, and set in a charming little town that felt beautifully old and well cared for. The communication with the staff was effortless, and everyone was genuinely welcoming. Our room was incredibly spacious, with a shared outdoor area that made it easy to relax. Being right in the heart of a fantastic wine region was a real highlight, and I honestly wish I could’ve stayed longer because there’s so much to explore if you’re a wine lover. The only things I didn’t love were the handheld shower hose instead of a proper shower head, and the shutters that had to be closed from the outside rather than having curtains inside the room. I also missed having a small kitchenette for washing cups or preparing something simple, but overall these were minor inconveniences.

Everything was perfect. The village is exceptional and this accommodation is ideal for a few days’ stay.
