“To be reported to booking and the police for leaving kids like this”

I booked for a group of 12 people, 4 families with 4 young kids, months in advance. The place is in a small area and we arrived at dark. I sent messages to let her know. When we got there we found a closed place. I called her and a lady said “made a mistake, they were closed for renovation, call booking they already have arranged something for you.” As soon as I finished the call, I received the cancellation of the booking. I called booking and they said it was not true and the lady just cancelled it. This lady left 12 people and 4 kids without a place to sleep, at night. We then went to a restaurant to ask for help and they told us it was the third time they did this. We luckily found gentle people and a place to sleep. It’s not that I do not recommend this place, it’s that I think booking should simply kick them away from the platform; this is just unacceptable.

I’d definitely recommend staying at this quiet guest house in Graskop. Mama Lorraine went out of her way to help us—she called to see how we were doing when we were running late and made sure someone was ready to assist with our check‑in. The peace here is unbeatable, and she also gave us great local restaurant tips and useful advice on routes and nearby attractions. Thanks, Mama Lorraine, for being such a caring host!

Lorraine was friendly and welcoming, even drawing me a map of nearby sites. The place was comfortable and exactly what I wanted after a long day of exploring. I watched a beautiful sunrise over the valley and chose the Jock Trail Parkrun because the location was perfect. The only downside was that only tea was offered; I had brought my own coffee because I usually drink more than most places supply. The fittings were old, some shower mosaics were loose, and the concertina door into my room was a real struggle to lock.

“Granny house”

The grandma‑hotel owner is very nice, and the place is old but well maintained, with quirky decor touches. Grandma also recommends a good restaurant in the garden shed. They serve zebra, ostrich, crocodile, and other venison meats 😱. My first‑floor room was a bit cold and had no heating this winter, and the main door lock was broken, so we had to rely on metal gates for security.
