The internet was solid and the room was private, but there was no hot water.
“Muy buen lugar para descansar”
The location and service were great, and everything else was fine.
Very well located, attentive and pleasant staff. The large room has a beautiful view, and the dining area and kitchen are nicely arranged with everything needed. The bed is a bit short for tall people, the front desk bell rings on every arrival which is a bit annoying, and a coded lock for the hotel entrance might be more convenient than having to buzz each time.
“Decent, modest little hotel near the main drag”
This modest hostel sits just off El Tambo’s main drag (where the buses to Cuenca/Quito go) and a stone’s throw from the main square; I enjoyed the colorful rooftop patio with nice views, and the staff were helpful and let me use the kitchen for simple meals. The only window in my room faced inward into the hotel, though I suspect there are rooms with outward-facing windows; I also wished I had a key for the main hotel door because I had to buzz every time and the lady, who was busy, could sometimes take a while to come down.
“Cerca a Ingapirca”
It’s close to the Ingapirca ruins, about a fifteen‑minute drive away. The breakfast was overpriced – a scrambled egg, a 25‑cent roll and coffee with optional milk cost $3.50.
