Hotel New Ohte

The staff were attentive; after I realized I’d forgotten something important during the busy period after 9 am, they quickly checked on it and called me back right away—thanks from the bottom of my heart, I’d love to make this my regular stay in Nagaoka; the bathroom layout was cramped.

The building is old but kept in great shape, clean, and functional. Its spot is perfect for exploring Hakodate: the market faces it (with stalls for every taste), bus N.1 to Mount Hakodate stops right outside the door, and it’s a one‑minute walk from both Hakodate Station and the bus terminus. Even though we didn’t have a car, we saw a covered parking lot on the fourth floor for guests. Our room was reasonably sized—larger than the average Japanese hotel of this type. The staff were always very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is close to the station and right in front of the morning market. The Wi‑Fi didn’t work.

“予約がとれない好立地”

The location was unbeatable, right opposite Hakodate Morning Market, and although there was a parking fee, I could come and go as often as I wanted, making it great for smokers; however, I booked two rooms, one as non‑smoking, and the smell of tobacco made me feel sick, which was a nightmare with my child, and it was absurd to label a smoking room as non‑smoking—if there had been availability it might have been okay, but I regretted choosing based on price and location.

Being inside the morning market made it very convenient and the station was close by, though the facilities did feel a bit dated.
