I love this spot—just steps from Midtown Plaza and two blocks from Spadina where my race began; the staff are friendly, the vibe is lively, the hallways are wide and the foyer gorgeous, and I've stayed here over ten times because of the value, the staff, and the location; Thirteen Pies across the street is also amazing. On Friday and Saturday nights the bar next to the hotel got a bit loud, but that's expected in a downtown area.

It’s old, outdated, and the rooms are small, but that’s not what you’re paying for—you’re paying for the experience of staying in a 120‑year‑old hotel, which makes it exceptionally cool and worthwhile; highly recommend a night or two.

The historic charm and the walk to the riverfront made this place perfect for us. The pub next door offered great dinner options and good food, which was a relief after a long day on the road, so we didn’t have to drive anywhere for dinner. Many dining choices were within walking distance, and we really appreciated the on‑site parking. The hotel feels a bit fortress‑like; the front door stays locked all the time and the parking behind is gated, which makes sense given the area.
