What a nightmare – it felt more like a brothel than a hotel, and everything was filthy. The sheets weren’t changed, the ones provided were dirty and the room reeked of stale tobacco. The bathroom was leaking and downright disgusting, while the broken windows were propped open with tape. The door wouldn’t lock, so anyone could wander into any room without a keycard. I paid for three nights but left after five minutes; it was horrible.

I ended up swapping rooms three times in one day because something was always broken: the first room had a window that wouldn’t close, the second had a door that wouldn’t latch, and the third’s shower leaked and the lights were flickering at half past eight. I asked for a fourth room, but it also had numerous faults, so I gave up. Every time I had to tell them the room needed fixing, and they never even provided clean towels – the ones they gave were damp and full of lint. Never going back.
