The room was large and clean, and there was a laundry area where we could do our laundry. Outside, there were drying racks for guests to use. The gentleman at reception was very kind. Mosquitoes were in the room upon arrival (there are screen doors, but they probably got in during cleaning), the bed linens and towels were clean but worn and stained. The location isn’t inconvenient, but it’s outside the city center. In my view, at Kannyakumari it’s worth staying as close to the temple as possible (we couldn’t find availability because it was full of Kerala tourists on holiday for Onam).

After spending eight nights on the first floor at the back of the hotel, I can say this place is simply amazing. I walked everywhere (except the palace 35 km away) and never felt bored. The location is perfect – you can safely walk at night all the way to Sunset Point on the beach, about 3 km away. On my departure day I caught a night bus to Chennai at 17:30, and I was allowed to stay in my room without any charge, even though most hotels demand a 500‑rupee fee for late check‑in or check‑out. I slept soundly in a quiet room with a comfortable bed. housekeeping refreshed my room mid‑stay, bringing fresh towels, soap, shampoo, oil and toilet paper. There are beautiful 14 km back‑country walks through palm groves on tiny quiet roads right from the hotel, plus a stunning seaside walk toward Kerala (Manakudi, 17 km back). The vegetarian restaurant KUMARI pur veg, just a 10‑minute walk from the Sangam hotel near the beach, is excellent. I have no complaints at all – thank you so much! I’d send my 22‑year‑old daughter there alone without hesitation.

I’m staying another six nights, eight in total, and everything is great. My room, about 20 m², is very spacious and spotlessly clean, with a well‑functioning air‑conditioner and two windows that keep it breezy (one in the bathroom, one by the door). A bottle of water, kettle, spoon and glass were waiting for me on arrival, and the room even has a terrace with a table and chairs (I’m in room 206 at the far end of the first floor). The garden is full of beautiful potted plants, showing real effort at greening the property. The hotel sits right at the town entrance next to Vivekananda’s ashram, so everything is walkable. To the left, toward the beach, is the very good pure‑veg restaurant Kumari veg restaurent, a ten‑minute walk and right beside the Sangam hotel. The train station is just a five‑minute walk away, and the nearest temple is close enough for late evening prayers. The beaches beyond the sunset viewpoint toward Kerala are incredible – I walked there alone for four hours feeling safe. Heading the other way toward Nagercoil, there’s an “eco park” that costs 50 rs to enter. I haven’t visited the palace 35 km away or the temple 12 km away yet, but I’ve already spotted a bus stop right in front of the hotel, making the 25‑minute walk to the main bus stand unnecessary. The only downside is the shower’s water pressure is very low, so I couldn’t wash my long hair properly, though I managed with the tap.
