Choosing this place was a perfect hit. We didn't want to stay in Otranto, so we looked for something outside the city with a pool but still close to the coast. We also followed the reviews, and Don Gerolamo had everything we needed. The place is wonderful, run by Antonio and his wife, who pour their hearts into it, making us feel at home. Everything was clean, the pool was well maintained, and our apartment had all the essentials. It was great that I could log into my Netflix, and the internet worked very well. Cars can be parked on the street under the apartments, and there's always a spot. The pool is a nice feature; we swam and sunbathed in the morning before heading out to explore, because everything is close by. We spent mornings chatting with Antonio over breakfast and enjoyed polishing our Italian. The pre-arrival communication was excellent, which mattered to me. The breakfasts served in the morning are truly sufficient, and the coffee Antonio makes personally is very good. Assuntina helps at work and treats guests like her own; she is very friendly and helpful, smiling and ready to talk. When his wife caught a cold, Assuntina sent her son to the pharmacy for medicine. Casamassella, where the apartments are, is a small town but has a bar literally 300 m from the apartment, where I went early in the morning in pajamas for a cappuccino. There's also a mini‑market. It's a great spot because Leuca is at most an hour's drive away, the charming coves are 15 km, Gallipoli is 1 h by car, and Otranto is 6 km. An ideal spot for exploring the Salento peninsula. Highly recommended!
