Hugo & Gladys made us feel instantly welcome, the food was delicious, and the shower was warm and spacious—exactly what we needed after a long day of hiking. I’d recommend staying here to anyone on the Quilotoa loop; don’t forget to play with the friendly dogs, cats, and kittens while you’re there.

Ideally located, mountain view, a bit away, 2 km from the village of Chugchilan, a 40‑minute walk (buses often pass right in front of the hostel). We were treated like family. Hugo, the owner’s son, can also bring you there for a very low price and can drop you off anywhere else (Quilotoa …). He will also be happy to guide you. The hostel is very clean, hot water, evenings around the wood stove… Beds and bedding are warm and very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner are delicious and varied (often with garden vegetables). Everyone will remember Gladys’s soups and her tasty dishes. Everything was perfect!

I was thrilled by the location—just a 40‑minute walk from the village of Chugchilan, about 3 km away, with buses often passing right in front of the hostel. Hugo, the owner's son, offered to drop me off anywhere for a very low price, even at Quilotoa, and he was happy to give directions. The place was spotless, the hot water was great, and evenings around the wood‑fire were cozy. The beds and linens were warm and supremely comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and varied, usually featuring garden vegetables, and everyone remembered Gladys’s soup and her tasty dishes. Absolutely nothing to complain about.

The homestay was fantastic; the owners were incredibly kind and welcoming. We enjoyed chatting with them and touring their gardens, where our meals were sourced. The food was among the best we've tasted in Ecuador. The accommodation was clean, the shower hot, and the Wi‑Fi was reliable. Most of all, the people there were the highlight.
