“Boa”
The breakfast needs better quality and a wider variety of foods.
“Good value for money in Bordeaux”
It’s a solid value‑for‑money hotel; getting there by car is a bit of a puzzle, yet once inside everything is top notch. The underground parking is spacious, and the city centre is just a 20‑minute stroll away. The beds were comfy and the breakfast was decent. Staff were helpful and friendly, and although a tram stops right by the door, we chose to walk. Driving through the narrow streets at night was a little tricky, but overall the hotel is very good.
“Sehr gute Unterkunft”
The location is excellent, right in the centre with a tram stop directly in front of the door, parking in the underground garage is hassle‑free and for 17 € a day it’s perfectly reasonable for a city like Bordeaux.
“Teleurstellend”
The hotel advertises “parking privé” as a plus, yet I was looking for a place where I could leave my car in a secure garage during my week in Bordeaux, so I chose Novotel Gare Saint Jean. The tram line is handy, but the garage is only accessible with a code and is marked in large letters “Attention, immeuble sous surveillance caméra.” After a few days I discovered that my car’s windshield had been smashed and a small suitcase had been stolen from my luggage. That suitcase contained items and gear for a beach holiday I wasn’t taking, so it wasn’t needed in Bordeaux, yet it was still missing. The staff never came to check on me. I spent the whole day arranging to go to the police and taking the necessary steps to get my damage repaired. I even had to borrow a broom to sweep the glass off my sofa before heading to Carglass. The staff’s indifference to the burglary upset me greatly; they seemed almost unbothered by the rising crime. There was no sign of a camera anywhere in the underground parking. When I asked, I was told it wasn’t a private parking lot because it was shared with the hotel next door. Upon returning home I emailed the hotel requesting apologies and compensation, at least for the parking fee (17 euros per night). I also wrote that the hotel should remove the “parking privé” claim from its website, as it is misleading. I received apologies and a refund for the parking and one night’s stay. I had trusted Novotel and was generally satisfied, but now I will not choose Novotel again; I feel a bad impression.
“Muy buena ubicación y habitaciones.”
