“Great location, lovely views, poor quality”
The staff were friendly and it felt like a nice family‑run business. The food was excellent – the Sri Lankan buffet in the evening was a real hit for my son and me, and they even brought fresh parathas for him and an extra vegetarian side for me, which was a lovely touch. The apartment’s view was beautiful, and I enjoyed watching it while reading. The location was convenient, with plenty of parking and a short drive or walk to the city centre. The apartment itself was disappointing: the entrance was a cluttered, grimy corridor leading up some external metal steps that felt like a fire exit. Inside, the kitchenette, double‑bed bedroom, and small bathroom all looked tired and needed updating. The bedroom’s Velux window was broken and let in a draft (fine in summer, but terrible in winter). I tried to speak to someone downstairs, but the reception was unmanned most of the time, so I felt like I was bothering the staff when I rang the bell. The dining table chairs were loose and collapsed when sat on. The worst part was that at night my son felt something hard and sharp in the bed – a toenail hidden in the covers.
