The staff were very enthusiastic, and when we arrived early they stored our luggage and suggested we try hand‑pulled rice; when we left they even offered a small white card, and each time we passed the front desk the employees greeted us warmly.

The interior and design were gorgeous, and the location was convenient for us, with everything not too far away.

Breakfast was terrible, the restaurant being down in the basement offered almost no fresh items at the self‑service bar – even the cheese had been sitting too long and was watery. I ordered a bowl of rice porridge that was almost all liquid with barely any rice and a dollop of butter that made it disgusting. The front desk staff were unfriendly at check‑in, the room’s fixtures were plain, and the only thing that looked good was the exterior, which is only Instagram‑friendly. The hair dryer was the wall‑mounted push‑type that was extremely hard to use. Value for money was low, and the main attractions were a 20‑minute walk away; I regret not choosing a better place for that price.

Our time at Arka Boutique Hotel was wonderful; the place was immaculate, full of character and thoughtful touches that made it feel cozy, the breakfast was tasty with plenty of options, and the staff were friendly and helpful, offering great advice on getting around Samarkand and pointing out sights, which really smoothed our trip. The hotel’s spot was also handy, just a short taxi ride to Registan Square and other key sites, making it simple to explore, so we’d gladly recommend it to anyone visiting Samarkand.
