“Perfekt gelegen am Bahnhof Hamburg-Altona”
The location at Hamburg‑Altona station is great. You’re quickly on the tracks for long‑distance trains, the S‑bahn, and the bus stops. The room was large enough and split into two areas. The windows could be opened fully. The bed was very comfortable, there were two TVs, a fridge, and a Nespresso capsule machine. The bathroom was functional, with a good shower and decent water pressure (on the 3rd floor). Reception staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, but the single coffee machine didn’t keep up with the many guests and you had to queue. Housekeeping is only on request. Towels and coffee capsules can be obtained at any time from reception. I believe that the reason for not having daily automated room cleaning isn’t the supposedly ecological reasons but simply to cut costs. Still, hotel rooms are getting more expensive. Unfortunately, there was carpet in the room, which gave off an unpleasant smell, similar to wet dogs. Yet the hotel is “dog‑free,” so there must be another cause. In mid‑October, the night temperature was 6 °C, daytime 12 °C, and the heating was not turned on even when requested. That was uncomfortable. If you stayed in the room for longer, you had to lie in bed and cover yourself. The wardrobe was so tall that with a height of 1.85 m you couldn’t reach the top shelf. There was no chair or ladder to climb onto it.
