Hotel Alma-Ata

The location is good and the hotel is quiet. However, the room was dirty and unclean—there was trash on the floor and I had to ask for it to be cleaned again. The staff were not very friendly, there were no mosquito nets on the windows, and there was no option to order food at the restaurant.

The front desk staff, Nella, was a genuinely warm person who tried hard to find the best rooms for me. The lack of internet was a huge drawback, because the TV only works with a connection, and the rooms were dirty with furniture that looked like it belonged to the 1990s.

“Very bad hotel for that amount of money”

The hotel was conveniently near the beach and park, but it felt like a relic with poorly maintained furniture and low‑quality materials for the price we paid. There was no Wi‑Fi in the room, and when I asked, the staff didn’t even try to diagnose the issue. They didn’t clean the room properly before we arrived: the toilet was filthy, the toilet brush was full of water, and there were leftover tickets and candy wrappers on the floor next to the bed. The heater wasn’t turned on, so there was no hot water and my child caught a cold because she couldn’t wash herself for three hours; the hair dryer didn’t work either. The restaurant’s bad odor permeated the whole place, making us reluctant to try the breakfast. The administration refused to offer any discount after all these problems, and despite their website labeling them as “Hotel Alma Ata” and printing that on business cards, they flat‑out claimed they were not a hotel and didn’t provide the expected services. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
